This month’s track is the release of the premiere single from my Gas Galaxy album. It is called Hypetronic and was co-produced by Chapter 7 and myself. Chapter 7 on the mix as well. My Cubic Zirconia family released this maxi-single style EP on their imprint, Don’t Cry Recordings which features an exclusive remix by Lunice (LuckyMe/Mad Decent) including instrumentals. Do yourself a favor and check out Lunice if you’ve never heard his music.

I think it’s awesome to be able to do this and ultimately one of the creative and cool things I’ve been wanting to do with this project and these songs including remixes, video’s etc. that are coming soon!!

THE MOTHERFUCKING RAM!!!

Today we bring to you the first official Gas Galaxy summer track called Zodiac Killer. Produced by myself with some fine tuning and mixed by the one and only Chapter 7. This track has been in the making for a while as well as the artwork for many of these and we are happy to finally share this track and accompanying art with you and yours. I think it’s safe to say it goes pretty hard but you can decide for yourself. ENJOY.

Oliver designed this before the tragic earthquake and chaos ensued in Japan where he was residing in Tokyo. All of these works have underlying meaning but this one is especially indicative of the true power of the universe and of it’s Japanese origin being a product of Oliver’s environment creating it while living there. He has since fled to safety in South Korea with his girlfriend who is depicted in the above image for this release. Thank you Ollie.

Low and behold the third installment of Gas Galaxy brought to you by myself, Chapter 7, and of course Oliver Cartwright. This one called Youniverse and marks the first of many original productions to come from yours truly. After Camu passed I turned to producing as another form of expression to somehow channel him and his creative vision musically. Chapter 7 on the mix of course. Dig it.

The time is finally here and the plan is underway. For a while now I have been talking about the progress of the Gas Galaxy album; writing/producing for what seems like an eternity with my partner Chapter 7. Well, we are in the final stages of it’s completion. HOWEVER, as the times change every day as we know it, so does everything from marketing a project to the way music is released.

So with a great deal of thought and deliberation, we (Chapter 7, Oliver Cartwright, and myself) have decided to bring you the Gas Galaxy LP over the span of this entire year. We will be doing an online only release via yakballz.net of one new song per month from Gas Galaxy for the rest of 2011 starting now in January.

yes ONE SONG PER MONTH FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR! It will not only allow us to focus and put our energy into each song every month as they individually deserve it, but to give YOU something to put in rotation on your monthly playlists with video’s and other cool additions surrounding the music to look out for all year long. By the end of the year you will have the first phase of the album in it’s entirety. Ultimately we will release it officially for purchase in the second phase with swagged out remixes and even more new songs.

Each song release will be accompanied by new and exclusive artwork by Oliver Cartwright; the man responsible for the art behind our latest leak, Machine, as well as original art for The Compass and the creator behind the innovative music video for it. Think of it as a visual for every track that will stand on it’s own and will also connect as part of the big picture to tell a story as it progresses with the music to the end.

To kick things off proper, this Thursday January 27th, we will be releasing the first song of many from the album. The song is titled DSMU and will be available for free download here at yakballz.net!

I figure it’s been a while since I actually wrote something discussing what I’ve been up to. Well I’ve been pretty wrapped up in trying to make life better so that I can make better music, if that makes any sense. There were some ultimate highs and lows since Scifentology II dropped and I’ve decided nearly two years later that it’s time to take a break from touring and playing shows for a little while (not too long) to try and finish up my Gas Galaxy EP, and another project that has been under wraps for quite sometime now, before I go back out. For those that have been following my twitter and who know me personally, you may know that for about the last 6 months I’ve been putting together a small but adequate studio set up at home and getting it up and running so I can be more productive musically and literally produce, explore, and learn the engineering/software aspect of it. It’s a challenge I’ve been pretty animate about and with the help of some of my tremendously talented friends, specifically one who is not with us anymore, it’s gotten very serious. I think what will come out of it, when it does, is going to showcase a new step in the way I approach my music and one that has already taught me much more than I knew prior to going in. Gas Galaxy is almost finished but I’ve decided I had to further perfect some things and add one more song, which I’m in the process of making right now. At this stage I’ve become a lot more nitpicky about songs although now the outcome will be exactly how I intended for them to be, where that wasn’t necessarily the case in the past. I believe as an artist, getting your art as close to what you think defines perfect, is something you never stop working towards. At least for me it is. If you came to the last couple of shows, you saw I played two new songs from the ep aside from Gas Galaxy to see how they would go over and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the response from songs that people never heard prior. I mean EXTREMELY amped. 2009 was a great year for working with new people and accomplishing things that I never have before. CCWM is as strong as ever and moving at a pace that would be hard for anyone to keep up with let alone those of us who are involved. Glad those of you, new fans and old, are around for the ride and in our company as we put out new music and play shows. We just make the music and hope you continue to move forward with us as we approach the last year of another decade, and beyond for that matter. I expect Gas Galaxy to come out early 2010 now and I think it’s appropriate to wait until this year is over anyway to put out my next release. Some people have been asking about what happened to the monthly blog I wrote on Definitivejux.net. Basically I took a break from that too in order to free up some more time to concentrate on new tunes and not have to worry about making another deadline, in life. I’m going to make an effort to write more here at yakballz.net, aside from the normal video/picture updates, movie reviews etc. Expect the unexpected. I went to Nick Hook‘s a little while back in LES with Janeworld to wrap up some things on Gas Galaxy. Chauncey was staying at Daryl‘s closeby so we got up and kicked it. I’m thinking there are still some things I want to add to this project. I’m super amped on it but I can’t just let it out without me feeling like it’s a complete and well rounded body of work even for an E.P., and I think I want to do one more song, of which I will produce myself. So we will see what happens. Since I’ve been home from tour I’ve been making beats and getting a small studio wrig up and running. A new work in progress that will allow me to make and record music whenever the fuck I want, naked.

Nick Hook plays keys for Cubic Zirconia and is a great friend of mine.
